Hello Rose, Maura and others,
I'm afraid I wasn't being too bright when I responded to Maura
re the Townlands about which she was inquiring. Now you, Rose,
want me to send `the chart' to you too. It occurs to me, in hind-
sight, that perhaps you and others, may want ALL the Townlands
of Londonderry: maybe more.
Well, now, that seems to be a huge chore as my search reveals
there are more than 1,300 in Londonderry alone. Best I send you
the address of a wonderful `on line' search engine that will search
for you by Townland, County, Barony, Civil Parish, Poor Law Union
or Province.
Engine is at http://www.seanruad.com/ . Just enter the name
you are seeking and include anyother detail you may know in
order to limit - and speed - your search. But if you want all of
the Townlands in Londonderry, for instance, simply select
Londonderry and click SUBMIT. Subject to the speed of your
connection, you soon will see on your monitor, the 1,307 Townlands
of Londonderry.
One tip if I may. Maura's request asked for Ballymacpeake. My
initial search came up empty until I changed the control from `Exact'
to `Anywhere' and, voila, there were two, Upper and Lower.
Oh yes, remember, this search engine works from a huge data base
as it covers all of Ireland...the entire island... the North and the
Republic.
Hope you'll not feel short-changed Rose.
