Hi Maureen
Just scanned ebay and discovered that what looks like a postcard is being
sold reference number 6162270790 and Gordons shop would have been located in
the right hand corner of the picture from what my parents have described to
me. Take a look it costs nothing to get a perspective of what we are talking
about. The picture shows a garden in the Diamond where the War Memorial now
stands.
I read somewhere that the war memorial was originally meant for the city of
Sheffield in England. It was erected in 1927. So therefore we can date this
postcard as being pre 1927.
Alan.

Thank you David
I saw a photo of the store and it was in the centre of Derry City. Does
the City cemetery have another name?
Thank you all for your help.
Regards,
Maureen

Maureen, the centre of Londonderry City is known as the Diamond, but
several
other towns through out N/Ireland have centres with that name.
If your people lived in the centre of Londonderry City, there is a good
chance any burials would be in the City Cemetary.
David.
