This is my first listing. My great-great Grandfather Robert Flynn (1796 -
1883) was born in Co. Down but appears to have moved to Wigtown Scotland
together with his wife Mary Laverty (1801 - 1883) around 1830. I am
descended from one of their Scottish-born children who emigrated to New
Zealand with his family in 1876.

According to his death certificate Robert's parents were John Flynn and
Bridget McGhee.

>From 1840 onwards the Flynn Family had to give information about themselves
every ten years for the Scottish census. Mary Laverty stated she was from
Drumaroad in Co.Down (daughter of John and Catherine Laverty nee Rogan). On
most of the census records Robert advised that he was from Castlewellan Co.
Down but on one of the census entries it was recorded in big curly writing
which is hard to decipher) that he came from Dianessa.

I would welcome contact directly or though the list from anyone who can
advise where Dianessa is or was and from anyone else who can assist me find
my family roots or who might be connected.
