Looking for the origin of my HARPER s who arrived in England to work in the
Marquess of Londonderry's coal mines - I see that the Londonderrys had an
estate at Newtownards. What would have been the occupations of his
tenants and were there any coal mines in the area? I have read that because
of difficult labour relations in the Durham coal mines - Irish men were
recruited to work there?
