Looking (and providing!) for information on an Elizabeth (presumably
McCartan) Hempstead, her brother Charles and their mother Ann.

Elizabeth is living with her husband George Hempstead in Dist 60
Brooklyn (New York, Kings County) in the 1930 census.
Address in 545 Bergen? street.

George age 43 was born about 1887 in England and immigrated to the
US in 1907. He is a lineman for the telephone co.

Elizabeth age 42 was born about 1888 in Northern Ireland. She
immigrated to the US in 1908. Her parents were both born in No Ireland.
She was married to George at age 30 in approx 1918, so they must have
married in the US. They have three children, George, Margaret and
Raymond.
All born in New York.

Also living with them is Brother in Law Charles MCCartan. ( I presume
he is Elizabeth's brother).
Charles is stonecutter for a granite company.

BIL Charles is 39, born abt 1891-in Northern Ireland and immigrated
to the US abt 1910.
He was married at age 28 abt 1919, presumably in the US. He is not
listed as widowed, but his wife is not recorded at this location with
him in 1930.

Charles arrived in NY from Liverpool on March 27, 1910 aboard the
"Laurentic". His last residence was Castlewellan NI.
Upon arrival at age 20 in 1910, he went to join his mother Anne
McCartan at 319 (?Hatbrisk?) Ave in Brooklyn. So obviously his
mother had immigrated earlier.
His closest relative departing NI in 1910 was his sister Mrs. Rose
Cardwell of Castlewellan.

I am interested in knowing who this Charles' father was (given name),
where in NI he was from (was the father from Castlewellan or
somewhere else) and if he (the father) had ever immigrated to the US
with his wife Anne and what Anne's maiden name was.
