The spouse Matthew was the son of John and Ida McCartan of Albany.
John was the brother of Edward McCartan, the famed NY sculptor, both
sons of
Michael Hugh McCartan who emigrated from Kilcoo Co Down.



GUILDERLAND

Mary H. McCartan, 100, died Monday, November 30, 2009, at Our Lady of
Mercy Life Center in Guilderland. Born in Albany, she was the daughter
of the late Denis and Cathryne (Collins) Mc-Carthy. Mrs. McCartan was
a graduate of St. John's Academy in Rensselaer and a past communicant
of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Albany. Wife of the late Matthew J.
McCartan; mother of Joan (John) Mosca of North Port, Fla., Kevin
(Shirley) McCartan of Guilder-land and James (Debra) Mc-Cartan of
Delmar; sister of Gerald McCarthy of Glens Falls and the late
Cornelius and James McCarthy. She is also survived by 11
grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three great-great-
grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 3,
2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish of Mater Christi (formerly St.
Catherine of Siena Church), 40 Hopewell St., Albany. Relatives and
friends are invited and may also call at the Norman E. Dascher Funeral
Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany on Thursday from 9:45-10:30 a.m. prior
to the Mass. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Green-
