I am desc from John Cale/Isabella Burnside. Your information agrees with what I have. The name is an enigma. David is listed with several spellings on the ship's list [Loyal Judith, 1742, Philadelphia from Rotterdam.] He was a Palatine. He always signed documents with a mark "D||" as did his wife Barthemia. The name as listed was variously "Kell" or "Kehl". Most of the descendants took CALE, some later added the "s" as in my case. John used CALE but some of his later children spelled it CAILES or CAIL. Spelling didn't mean much in those days.
