Subject: [NJ-GSNJ] NYG&B proxies

Hi Folks

I've been asked to make this information available to our GSNJ mailing
list...

If you haven't already sent in your proxy vote (for or against) regarding
the by-laws changes for the NYG&B, please read. If you have already sent
them in and wish to change your vote or if you have concerns about the proxy
being accurately accounted for, please read.

If you have any questions - or feel I've confused the issue more - let me
know!

Regards
Joan

With regard to the proxies, more and more people are writing with concern
about giving one of the G&B's board of trustees their proxy, especially
since it gives him sweeping authority beyond just voting for the amendment
to the bylaws. The NYG&B's attorney provided the following information to
another NYG&B member (and I'm paraphrasing here...) -

Proxies do not have to be voted by the board of trustees member listed on
the proxy. They can be voted for you by another NYG&B member. The person
you designate must be a member in good standing and attend the meeting.
The procedure to ensure that your vote can be counted is as follows:

Cross out George McNeely's name on your proxy (his name appears in two
spots) and substitute the name of whomever you are giving your proxy. Sign
and date it, and mail it (or give it) to the person you want to cast your
vote RIGHT AWAY, as it needs to be in-hand by no later than Wednesday's mail
(since the meeting is at noon on Thursday.)

If you would like to have Roger Joslyn represent you and cast your vote, you
can mail your proxy to him at the following address:

Roger D. Joslyn, CG, FASG
501 East 87th Street, Apt. 6-H
New York, New York 10128-7665

(Be sure to include the apartment number, as the USPS will not deliver it
without that.)

If you are changing your vote from a previously sent proxy, you can download
a new proxy form from the G&B's website and clearly mark on it the date and
a note that this is to replace your earlier proxy vote. You can also come to
the meeting at the society on 19 July and request that your proxy be
destroyed and vote at the meeting.
