In my very humble opinion, all presentations at historical society meetings
in New Jersey and elsewhere should be taped and preserved for posterity.
What better mission for a historical society that to do so? Future
historians will wonder what we were thinking when these gems of information
are lost forever.
The technology is there. For instance, we have had several of our authors
taped by teenagers who used simple video cameras [a nice way to involve
younger members of the community!] so the cost is quite minimal. While the
quality may not be up to Hollywood standards, it's the content that is
important. Of course, there are copyright considerations that need to be
properly cleared with the speaker/presenter, but most are very understanding
when it comes to this aspect.
Just my two cents. Happy 2009 everyone!
