I've been to Bertrand Island at least once. The family of one of the girls in
my high-school Mariner Girl Scout troop had a place out in either Lake
Hopatcong or Hopatcong Borough, and the troop spent a weekend there once. We
spent Saturday evening at Bertrand Island. That would have been around 1956
or 1957. Several years later (1972-1976) my husband and I and the kids lived
in Hopatcong Borough, on the west shore of the lake, but Bertrand Island had
long since gone then. Sad. . .
