1695 Nov. 18. Mary, daughter of David Bishop, decd, makes
application for the appointment of her uncle, Jonathan Bishop, of
Woodbridge, Middlesex Co., as her guardian; granted by And. Hamilton.
1695 Nov. 18. Order of Govr Hamilton to the secretary of the
Province, to make out letters of guardianship to Jonathan Bishop, of
Woodbridge, whose niece Mary, daughter of David Bishop, has chosen him as
her guardian.
1695 Dec. 4. Bishop, David, of Woodbridge. Bond of Jonathan Bishop,
of Woodbridge, as guardian of Marie Bishop, daughter of. Samuel Dennis,
fellow bondsman. Middlesex Wills.
1684 Sept. 19. Bishop, John, senior, of Woodbridge; will of. [page

negro woman Betty at 25, and a silver dram cup; made by Samuel Moore and

1686 July 31. Bishop, John, of Woodbridge. Bond of John, son of, as
executor of his fathers will. Jonathan Bishop, of said town, fellow
bondsman. Middlesex Wills.
1720 June 20. Bishop, John, of Woodbridge, Middlesex Co.; will of .
Wife Mary; children John, Moses, Anne Coburn, Rebekka; son-in-law Amos
Goodden; grandchildren David Goodden, Thomas Bishop, son of dau. Anne.
Land on Papiak Neck in Woodbridge Bounds, between the roat to town, Daniel
Brittain, John Moores and brother Noah, six acres of salt meadow near the
mouth of Rahaway R., a lot in Woodbridge near Aish Swamp, a farm at Rahaway,
West of the bridge; personal property. Son Moses sole executor with
brother-in-law John Moore and kinsman John Elstone as overseers. Witnesses
Samuel Stone, John Alston, Samuel Bonnell. Proved April 3, 1722. Lib.

Daniell Bishop and John Shaw, stating that Nathaniel Bishop died April 24,
1723.

1742-3, March 19. Bishop, Daniel, of Cohansey, Salem Co., yeoman;
will of. Wife, Abigail, use of plantation, etc. Son, Nathan Bishop (when
21), house and barn, and all that land and marsh that my father gave to me;
also of marsh I bought of Anne Grant, known as Jewels Marsh; alsoe of
land bought of Elias Cotting, joining the river and situate between his line
and Joshua Barksteds, containing 227 acres; also of salt marsh, 25 acres
near Tindals Island, bought of Elias Cotting. Son, Daniel Bishop, when
21, to have other half of the above and woodland bought of Anne Grant.
Daughter, Elizabeth Bishop, when 18, 150 acres (bought of Elias Cotting)
which John Terry lives on. Daughter Phebe, when 18, 150 acres, bought of
Elias Cotting. Daughter Abigail Bishop (not 18). Executors wife and
Moses Bishop. Whereas some persons claim under Joshua Barksteds right a
part of the land I bought of Elias Cotting, therefore my executors are
authorized to defend any action by such. Witnesses Nathaniel Bishop,
