January 16th ~ David WARD's wife Hannah, buried at Woodbury.
January 21st ~ Sarah WARD went in stage to see her sister, Hannah REEVE, at
Maurice River.
February 4th ~ Describes fire at John LAWRENCE's place. Court House and
Academy bells were rung..... Fire Engines mentioned.
February 11th ~ Made 400 pills of asafoetida, castile soap, oil juniper and
honey.
March 15th ~ Surveyed triangle piece at Jno. JESSUP's large three story house
in Woodbury.
March 15th ~ Wrote deed for Jno. KEEN and wife, to Biddle REEVES and Jno.
TATUM, Jr.
March 16th ~ Aaron PANCOAST and Anne COOPER married.
May 7th ~ John SMITH, father of Daniel SMITH, Sr., deceased last night.
Also, heard of decease of Biddle REEVES' mother, Anne REEVES ~ also, of ye
decease of Michael FISHER's wife, Rebecca FISHER.
May 8th ~ Heard of ye decease of ye wife of Archibald MOFFETT, Sr. and of
Daniel BASSETT.
May 18th ~ Ira ALLEN and Catherine COOPER married. Arthur HOWELL; John GILL;
Deborah STEWARD and her sister, Hannah CLEMENT, here after meeting.
May 24th ~ This week a young man near Sharptown was killed by lightning,
another seriously hurt.
May 25th ~ Went to buy wool.
June 8th ~ Egg Harbor and Cape May meetings mentioned.
June 15th ~ Brought home my new Dutch Fan, price $17.00 and $1.00 to Amos
SMITH, son of Daniel SMITH, for his trouble.
July 1st ~ Hannah REEVE, widow of Mark, at meeting.
July 11th ~ Stung by bumble bees at barn.
July 11th ~ James WHITALL says he will be 87, 9th mo. Next, Ann LADD born in
1715, his late wife 1716 and he in 1717.
July 16th ~ At funeral of nine month old child of Presbyterian Parson, Thomas
PICTON.
July 18th ~ Daniel COOPER at ye Ferry, deceased.
August 11th ~ Attended funeral of Elisha CLARK's mother, aged about 65 years.
Interred in Presbyterian Burial Ground.
August 24th ~ Heard that Evi SMITH deceased ye morning.
September 25th ~ Jesse SMITH's wife's funeral.
October 2nd ~ George C. WARD and wife about to remove today to ye state of
Ohio.
October 4th ~ Surveyed an additional piece of ground to enlarge our school
yard and extend to ye Stranger's Burial Ground.
November 13th ~ Eliada PAXTON of Bucks County and Mary COOPER, daughter of
Amos COOPER, married.
November 20th ~ Finished cleaning my present years crop of wheat.
November 25th ~ Anne SPARKS, widow and daughter of James WARD, come to reside
with us a 4/6 per week.
December 4th ~ Had our young bull killed, aged 2 years, 4 months, 11 days,
weight about 600 pounds.
December 6th ~ Sarah WHITALL, wife of Samuel WHITALL, and daughter of Joseph
ELLIS, deceased ye day.
December 15th ~ Repainting ye old desk and book case made in 1725 (according
to receipt for payment) late belonging to Uncle John and Aunt LADD.
December 17th ~ Fire in stove chimney. Broke up Court twice. Fire engines
called out. Full description of supposed cause and its effects.
