Sorry to be so late in getting around to reading your query, but here are a
couple of families you might want to look at more closely --

John A. DeBaun, son of Abraham DeBaun & Maria Van Saun, m. 11 Dec 1846
Saddle River Luth. Ch , Catherine Ann Ackerman (I don't have her parents;
if you find them would you let me know?)
John A. DeBaun was b. 3 Jan 1827 (or 8 Jan 1827)
Catherine Ann Ackerman was b. 2 March 1829; bp. 21 May 1829 Saddle River Ref Ch
A family tradition says John A. DeBaun had use of only his left
arm, but was a mechanical genius.
According to Rosalie Fellows Bailey in Pre-Revolutionary Dutch
Houses..., the Van Horn house on Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff Township was
owned for a year by John DeBaun, husband of Rachel (?) Ackerman, who sold
it about 1870 to Robert Branford.1

William DeBaun, 36, carpenter, and Rachel J. DeBaun, 30, his wife,
were listed in the 1880 Federal Census, living in Hohokus Township, Ramsey
Village, Bergen County, NJ. Living with them were son Jacob DeBaun, 13; and
mother in law, Catherine Tice, 55, widow.

According to the Charity Ackerman Diary and Martha Ann Zabriskie
entry of their marriage, they were both of Debauntown.
Saml Debaun, 63, farmer, and Adeline, 63, his wife, were listed in
the 1860 Federal Census, living in Hohokus Township, Bergen County, NJ.
Listed living with them were Jacob S. Debaun, 40, farmer; Margaret Debaun,
36, his wife; Samuel Debaun, 19, Millwright; William [H.?] Debaun, 17,
carpenter; Margaret E. Debaun, 14; John Debaun, 8; Albert H. Debaun, 3; and
Matilda Edwards, 4.
