Subject: [NJBERGEN] DAVID VAN ORDER
Date: Wed, 8 Dec 1999 06:01:38 EST
Dear Lists,
Looking for more information on the latter life of a DAVID VAN ORDER. Name
also shown as VAN ORDEN & VAN NORDEN. Information I have:
Born: 27 June 1756
Parents: Andries Janse Van Order & Christina Sausele
Christened: @ Schraalenburg. Witnesses: Wouter Van Orde & Antie, his wife.
1810 census: Ulysses Township, Seneca County, NY,
17 April 1815: Deed of purchase between Jacob Ketcham and his wife Anna for
111 acres of land lot 48 in Ulysses.
27 June 1817: sale of same lot to Walter Van Order (David's wife name shown
as Elizabeth)
I have no information David after this sale.
I do have a copy of a war of 1812 pension file (WC-4869) on a David VAN
ORDER, whose widow is listed as Elizabeth. This David served in Captain
Bakewell's Co. NY Mil. He served as a private from 2 September 1814 to 3
December 1814. The file includes a statement that this David VAN ORDER was
married on 20 April 1811 to an Elizabeth Seamans. David's death is listed as
29 March 1852 at Spring Valley, New York.
If this is the same David, he was married to Elizabeth at age 55 and lived to
age 96.
Does anyone have any information that would establish what happened to David
and Elizabeth after they sold their property to Walter in 1817?
Best,
John A. Van Order
Cornelius, NC
