There is a book ( I do not have it, but do have some pages copied) by
Frederick H. DYER, entitled _ A Compendium of the War of the
Rebellion_ which gives a brief capsule version of each state Regiment
and its service. The 15th NJ was organized at Camp Fair Oaks,
Flemmington, NJ and mustered in August 25, 1862. Left the state for
Washington, DC, August 27, 1862. At Tennallytown, D.C. till September
30, constructing Fort Kearny. Attached to 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 6th
Army Corps, Army of the Potomac, and Army of the Shenandoah, to
June, 1865.

*Some* places where it was: Frederick, MD; Falmouth, VA;
Chancellorsville Campaign (where Stonewall Jackson was shot);
Fredericksburg; Gettysburg; Manassas Gap, VA; Culpepper, VA;
Battles of the Wilderness; Spottsylvania; Bloody Angle; Cold Harbor;
Siege of Petersburg; Appomattox Courthouse.

If your ancestor was in this Regiment and made it out alive, I would say
he did well.
