There were two John Francis Bartholf's who enlisted in the Civil War. One
John Francis Bartholf moved to Pennsylvania after the war, and was a cabinet
maker. This John Francis also had a son named John Francis.

Thank you for the response on the Bergen County John F. Bartholf. My forbear,
John Francis Bartholf, may have been a cousin. He went to Key West on Army
assignment during the war, and stayed in south Florida after the war to
head up the reconstruction government in Manatee County, Florida. He later
moved to Jacksonville, Florida. He had one sister named Ella Nora. I have
the death cerificate copies of John F. Bartholf and his sister, Ella Nora
Bartholf Levitt.

As to the post, do we know who the first wife of this John Bartholf, and
the offspring from that marriage?
