Surname: Bogard
-------------------------
The History of Daviess Co. INDIANA (a old book I own published in the early
1900's)lists a Bogard family, mentioning only a father a two sons out of
Vincennes around 1808. Cornelius would be about the right age to be the
father in this story. There is no mention of where he came from. An incident
involving an attack by renegade indians in which the father (possibly Cornelius)
was killed. One of the two sons was named Cornelius also. The two young
men apparently later settled in the Owl Prairie area NE of Vincennes, one
North of the White River and one South. I am descended from the Northern
Branch and come out of Greene Co. INDIANA.
My Great Grandfather, George, bought land in Greene Co. after the civil
war and raised 4 boys there: George Jr., William, Francis, and Willis.
Willis was my Grandfather. My father, Bryce Clinton Bogard, and one of
George's 3 boys were the only ones with male heirs and I am the only one
in my generation with a son, Brian Andrew Bogard. He has a son, 3 yr. old
Austin Jesse Bogard
