By happy chance I found an obit for my G-g-g-grandmother, Elizabeth
Hamill, in the microfilmed NY Herald of August 5 1864. It states that she
died in Clinton Station, NJ on August 3. This is the first indication that
the Hamill family was not all continuously living in Westchester Co NY since
arrival in this country and a real break because NJ will hopefully have a
death cert. with much needed parental and place of birth info.
My question: Clinton Station does not appear on any modern atlas. I am
assuming it is/was in Northern New Jersey as the rest of the family was
indeed in Westchester. Does anyone know where or what county this may have
been in? I hope to make my request for DC as specific as possible.
