You are correct in believing that Newman Prep does not exist any more - and has not in many,many years, although, there is still a Newman Street in Hackensack.
I would suggest contacting the Archdiocese of Newark for more information. Their archives are at Seton Hall University in South Orange.
As far as I have ever heard, Newman Prep had only one super famous alumni - F. Scott Fitzgerald.
