996 PETER ZABRISKIE HOPPER, son of John J. Hopper (#488) and Ann Eliza
Goetschius, was b. 28 Jun 1830 (bap. rec. and MAZ), in Hackensack (KM-L),
bap. 30 Oct 1830 at S.R.RDCh. He d. 28 Feb 1904 in Delaware, Delaware Co.,
OH. He enlisted at Ashley Oh 13 Aug 1862 Co. D 121st Ohio Volunteer Infantry.
He was in hospital in Lebanon KY and Louisville, KY with stomach trouble and
discharge at Camp Dennison Hospital 27 May 1863 as disabled. He enlisted
again on 7 Mar 1865 at Col. O. Co B, 196 Ohio Volunteer Infantry; m.o. at
Baltimore MD, 11 Sep 1865 contracted heart disease. and chronic dyspepsia in
service. Member of Coomer Post G. A. R. pres. O.G. According to Civl War
Records - Company Descriptive Book 13 Aug 1862 he was 32 years old, height
was 5' 5 1/2" with light complexion and grey eyes and light hair (at
discharge hair dark.). He was a farmer. On 24 Dec 1859 in Delaware Co., OH,
he m. Emily (Emmalie) Sch(a)repti Higley. The marriage was recorded 10 Oct
1860 solemnized by Rev. J. M. L Longfellow. She was b. 6 Apr 1841 in
Westfield, Delaware Co., OH, the dau. of Chauncey Higley and Margaret A.
Head. She d. 28 Oct 1896 in Ashley Delaware Co., OH. bur. with her husb. in
the Asley Union Cem. there. (KM-L).
