The DAILY newspapers for Oakland would have been the Bergen Record
(pub. at Hackensack) or a Paterson newspaper (The Call?). There may
also have been some local weekly newspapers. Wyckoff had a weekly
that probably included Oakland items, but I don't know if it was
published in the late 1970s. If you;re in Bergen County, any library
should be able to access a list of newspapers and the libraries that
hold copies or microfilms of them.
