Robert: Margaret here. The St. Joseph's Orphanage was in Rockleigh, NJ, northern BC, bordering NY's Rockland County. The institution is no longer there, hasn't been for years. The campus is now home to the Bergen County Health Care Center, the county's nursing home.

I don't know where records may be kept. You may want to try the Archdiocese of Newark.
