Hi Mona
There is no 1925 census for NJ. 1915 was the last one for the State census.
Bogota should be listed in Hackensack City Directories. You might try
contacting the Johnson Library in Hackensack and see if they can check from
1920 to 1930 for Elizabeth Scranton and Christiana Case residing in Bogota.
(Bogota may have been a separate section in the directory, so make sure you
tell them the Hackensack directories and the Bogota section.) A lot of
times the city directory will actually give you the date of death and the
age at death for people in NJ. It might say something like: "Scranton,
Elizabeth died: 12 Dec 1929 age 83y." And, even if that isn't there - at
least you will find out what year Elizabeth is LAST listed in the
directory - which would be a clue to her death date...

Another choice would be to contact the Bergen County Surrogate's Office and
ask them to search the estate indexes to see if she has an estate file. If
so, the Application in her file (for either a probate (will) or an
administration (no will) should list her exact date of death. They do
charge a search fee and plain copies are $3 per page - so it isn't the
cheapest option but might work.

Yet another choice would be to hire someone to search for her death
certificate at the NJ State Archives in Trenton. Death records are
available there through 1940, although the staff cannot search the records
past 1878. Many websites have lists of researchers for hire in NJ. A few
of the sites are listed below:

Good Luck with your search!
