Subject: Is there a Ridgewood/Glen Rock BSA Council Historian?
Date: Sat, 17 Jul 2004 16:33:53 EDT

As custodian of my father, Robert G Romans files for genealogical purposes, I
have in my possession files pertaining to the Ridgewood/Glen Rock BSA
Council. This is just a cursory glance at the vast amount of materials.

The family joke about Pop when he was alive is that he saved every scrap of
paper even the first one he ever scribbled on. Since his death I have found
this joke to be very close to the truth. His 9 plus file cabinets contain
information concerning numerous organizations in Ridgewood NJ.

I began a project which was to be a book about my father, which has expanded
into a History of the Romans in Ridgewood and will be using the original
records contained in my fathers files to compile the information for the book.

My fathers involvement with the Boy Scouts went from 1931-1983. I would like
to be in contact with a BSA Historian for guidance on this project, and it is
my intention to donate all of the materials pertaining to the Boy Scouts of
American to the Council in memory of my father.

Among the memorabilia is a kerchief from a national gathering which had been
cancelled due to an influenza epidemic which I would like to find out more
about.

We also have some old home movies where my father photographed presumably my
brothers and other scouts crossing a brook or stream when a bridge was out at
Camp Yaw Paw.

I will be going thru his vast amount of pictures for photos pertaining to the
BSA with the intention of donating them as well.

Thanks for any leads.

Sincerely,

Laurie Beth Roman
