This is in reply to Ken MCKEEVER's () Aug. 24, 2004, posting to the list titled "Re: [NYROCKLA] Re: BABCOCK, Joseph & Charity - 1770s to 1850s - Haverstraw NY." Page 66 of the book "History of the Carlock Family," by Marion Pomeroy CARLOCK, 1929, lists the following baptism record for Paramus, Bergen Co., NJ:

Rachel Jane CARLOUGH, d/o John and Maria CARLOUGH, b. July 26, 1832; bapt. Aug. 18.

It appears this John and Maria CARLOUGH may be the John George CARLOUGH and Mary BABCOCK mentioned in your posting.

I have submitted a request to RootsWeb to have a CARLOUGH mailing list established, but am still waiting to hear whether or not it has been approved. The Social Security Death Index at the following site lists 180 entries for the surname CARLOUGH:
