Subject: Brower and Lambert family

This is my first posting here. I have been researching my Brower family for 3 years, but I have concentrated on New York City, NY as the location, and I now am going to try to focus on New Jersey as a possible original location.
My ancestor is Jeremiah Brower b. 1801 NY. He is said to have been born in New York City. He went to Missouri as of 1830, and died in 1875 at Lineville, Wayne Co Iowa. He was a physician.
His eldest brother was John Abraham Brower b. 1791, he married Ann Day, d/o Jacob Day and Ann Earle.
Anne Earle was the daughter of Morris Earle and Anna Montanje, also spelled as: De La Montaye, De La Montagne.
Anna, was daughter of Thomas De La Montanye, s/o Vincent, s/o Jean.
Morris Earle was s/o Marmaduke Earle, b. 1696 Secacus Island, NJ. and his wife Rebecca Morris.
John Abraham Brower b. 1791 NY and his brother Dr. Jeremiah Brower b. 1801, were both the children of Jacob Brower b. May 8, 1772 and his wife Abigail Manning b. 1772.
Jacob Brower b. May 8, 1772 was said to be the son of Johannes Brouwer and his wife Perkins Lambert.
From the records of the Dutch Reformed Church of New York, the children baptised of Johannes Brouwer and Perkins Lambert were:
1. Susanna Brouwer
2. John Brouwer
3. Robert Brouwer
4. Jacob Brouwer (my ancestor)
5. Susanna Brouwer
The baptism of Jacob Brouwer, s/o John and Perkins, was witnessed by: Jacob Brouwer and Ellener Brouwer, and her husband Garrit Kip.
The baptism of Robert Brouwer, s/o John and Perkins, was witnessed by: Gerrit Kip, and Ann Brouwer, and Thomas Calwel.
As you can see, the surnames interelated are:
Earle
De La Montagne
Day
Brower/Brouwer/Brewer
Kip/Kipp
Lambert.
Note: the surname was originally Brouwer, in the Dutch spelling, but over time was spelled as both Brower and Brewer.
All of these surnames are found in the earliest records of land and taxes at New Barbadoes Neck, Bergen Co NY.
If there is any researcher reading this, who can shed light on this family line, or can offer help or advice for my research, please reply.
I have been going through the rootsweb.com files, trees, doing google searches, etc.
I have come to "think" that : John Brower, aka Jan Brouwer, aka Johannes Brouwer, was living in New Jersey, married to Perkins Lambert.
At the time of the Revolution, they were perhaps Tories, and were forced to leave New Jersey, and relocated to New York City, were the British offered protection.
This could be the reason that my Brower line was born in New York City, as opposed to New Jersey. This is speculation, not proven.
Adam Brouwer arrived in 1642 to New Amsterdam (Manhattan), then married Magdalena Ferdon. They moved to Gowanus Creek, at Brooklyn, and raised a large family.
Several of their descendants finally located in New Jersey, as early as 1700 at Hackensack.
The history is so long, and so complicated with intermarriages, and multiple lines, that I am needing help to find my own linegae, from all the hundreds of Brouwer/Brower lines.
Best regards,
Lilly Martin
descendant of Jeremiah Brower, s/o Jacob Brower , s/o John Brower and Perkins Lambert, possibly originally of New Jersey.
