Subject: More on 1st Dutch Reformed Church Records

I have received several inqueries about my recent posting on records I
received from the Lutheran Church regarding records from what at one point
was the 1st Dutch Reformed Church on 177 Washington St. Happy to be giving
instead of asking for a change , here goes .
Where to find : go to Glenn's Virtual Newark site . Click on Churches , etc.
Click on Carol Swineharts' Church Archives . Click on NJ and scroll down to
Lutheran .
I e-mailed the Philadelphia branch listed . They took about 2 months , sent
me the info and asked me to send $20. (I did) .
What they sent : I knew the names and date of the wedding I wanted , plus
the minister and Church . They sent a copy of the Parish record with 6
weddings on it . It is in Hungarian . It has seperate columns for groom and
bride and witnesses . It has name , dob , town/village and county (in
Hungary) , current address , and parents names . One other fact I can't
guess at (occupation?). It came 1st class unfolded in a large envelope .
Whoever wrote this (Rev. Shambach?) has beautiful handwriting but the
strangest letter formations I have seen which makes attempting to figure out
the letters quite hard . Good Luck , Kevin
