Hi Dave from John (in Chicago)-- I'm a little rusty on this, but I feel
reasonably sure the following is correct:

ult. (ultimo) -- refers to the previous month, i.e., May 2000
inst. (instant) -- refers to the present month, i.e., June 2000
prox. (proximo) -- refers to the next month, i.e., July 2000
