Robert STEWART and Fanny MILLER were married 8 Sept. 1827 in Somerset Co., NJ.
The 1850 Census Index for Plainfield, Essex Co., p. 372-373 lists:
Robert STEWART, 43, baker
Frances, 41, wife
Mary Ann, 21
Adolphus, 17, baker
Henry V., 15
John M., 13
Samuel F., 12
Julia F., 9
Edward B., 7
Sarah E., 6
Emily A., 4
Clarissa, 2
The 1870 census. 8th Ward, Newark, pge 86:
Samuel STEWART, 32, clerk, b. NJ
Elizabeth, 30, wife, b. England
Mary E., 8
Esther, 6
Byram, 4
Ernest, 2
Is this above Samuel STEWART, the same as the Samuel STEWART, son of Robert
and Frances STEWART in the 1850 census?
Can someone help me? Does someone connect with this family?
My great-great grandfather was John M. STEWART, b. about 1836. He was a
"baker" and served in the Civil War. One of his daughters was Julia. One of
his sons was named Samuel. His death certificate listed his parents as
"Robert and Mary STEWART". IF this is the same family, "Mary" could have
been "Mary Frances" or even "Frances Mary." Can anyone help me?
