Jacob Pool was b. 13 Feb 1715, Dighton, Bristol Co., Mass. He m.
Mehittble Eliot, 3 Nov 1744, d/o Thomas Eliot, Jr. & Mercy Walker.
Jacob's parents were Benjamin Poole, b.9 Feb 1682, who m. Hannah
Whitmarsh 9 Aug 1713. She was b.27 Dec 1691, and was d/o Samuel
Whitmarsh & Hannah Pratt.
Benjamin's parents were Capt. Joseph Poole, b.abt 1650, who m.
Elizabeth Shaw abt 1673, she was b.26 Feb 1655/56, and was d/o John
Shaw & Alice Phillips.
Joseph's parents were Capt. Edward Poole, b.1609, who m. Sarah Pinney
1641/45, and she was the d/o John Pinney & Protesia Holdich.
Capt. Edward Poole was the immigrant. He was born in Weymouth,
Dorset, England. He came by ship to Weymouth, Norfolk County, Mass.
I have an ancestor, Simeon Pool, who was born 28 Nov 1756, whom I
have been trying to connect as a son to the above Jacob Pool and
Mehittable Eliot. Simeon's grandson was named Eliot Pool. Simeon's
son (my ancestor) was named Benjamin Pool (which was Jacob's father's
name).
My Simeon Pool, ancestor, was listed on the death certificate of
Benjamin Pool (his son) as being the father of Benjamin. Benjamin's
mother and Simeon's wife was named Phebe (?) They lived in
Gloucester Co., N.J. when Benjamin was born. My Benjamin wound up in
Clermont County, OH. (a) Simeon Pool wound up in Washington County,
OH (Marietta). (not sure it was the right one). He and his son in
law, John Bell, founded the town of Malta, OH in what is now
neighboring Morgan Co., OH. Simeon was a sailor when he was
young and was taken by the beauty of Malta on the Mediterranean and
this is why they named their town, Malta.
The information from Jacob Pool back to Edward is documented. I need
additional documentation proving Jacob & Mehittable are the parents
of Simeon. I also need additional proof that the Washington County,
OH Simeon is the same as the father of my Benjamin of Clermont Co.,
OH. Can you help me? Thanks.
