Hello everyone, hope you all have a Happy New Year
I am helping my husband search for his ancesters.
His ggggGrandfather (I think I have that right) was a Peter Kappes. He
served during the Revolutionary War as a Hessian Soldier, he was a
mercenary employed by the British. He was born Oct. 6, 1752 in Herse
Germany. He was captured served time as POW and released. He then showed
up in New Jersey, unsure of when he was released.

I have no idea when he showed up in New Jersey. He changed his name to
PETER CAVIS. He married SARAH ? (maiden name unknown. She was born April
12, 1760. Could someone possibly be able to find their marriage
record?
They had the following children:
Matthew Cavis............May 27, 1801
Edith Cavis.................Aug. 17, 1803
Susan Cavis...............Aug. 22, 1805
Anna Cavis................Sept. 28, 1807
Rachel Cavis.............Jan. 11, 1810
Simon Peter Cavis.....Dec. 5, 1814
Elizabeth Cavis.........April 30, 1817
Sarah Cavis..............June 26, 1819
Mary Ann Cavis........Nov. 5, 1821
Simon Peter Cavis is my husband's gggGrandfather.
Peter Cavis died in 1820 at the age of 68 at Woodbury, New Jersey.
Sarah Died on Feb. 7, 1860 at Clarksboro, New Jersey at almost 100 years
old.
What is amazing is she began having children at age 41 and continued til
she was age 61!
I need to know if anyone can find Peter & Sarah's marriage registration,
so as to find her maiden name.
Also, Simon Peter Cavis grew up in New Jersey and Married there. I only
know of one of his children named Peter Asbury Cavis, born Nov. 18,
1838. (It's possible that Asbury could be his Simon Peter's mom's or
his wife's maiden name.)
I also do not know if he went to Kentucky with his son Peter Asbury and
died there or if he died in New Jersey.
I do know that a Sara Cavis married a Tunis Henderson Dec.29, 1838 in
Gloucester New Jersey. This is alI know of this record. This could be
Simon Peter's sister as she would have been 19 years old that year.
One of Simon's sisters married a Lord because I know that he had a neice
named Lizzie Lord.
Can anyone help me with any of this info?
