Old Bethel Methodist ,the mother church of the old Gloucester Co,NJ
colony>
east Cincinnati,Ohio 1803+ now sits in the East Fork State Park, near,Lake
Harsha,
sw Ohio. The frame church, built in 1817 by James Blackman,on Rev John and
Sarah
Blackman Collins Farm, was one of the few things preserved when the
lake-park were built,1970-75. Rev was the 1st leader,
and can speak better than I
to the need for paints, roofs, etc the now non-denominational building
needs. Adjoing is
5+ acres of well tended cemetary.
Yes,part of the credit for preserving it went to my parents.Hermon E and
Ruhama Brown
Fagley.

The church is a mile north of Ohio RT 125 AND 222 SOUTH traffic light,in
the
East Fork State Park. Bantam, on Bantam Rd,is the closest village.
There is mention in Vol 1-2 of "Notes on Old Gloucester Co,NJ" of there
being an
earlier Methodist church in the Port Republic-Leeds Point,Smithville
section of
Galloway township,NJ than the one formed in 1810-11. Here it is-that
earlier NJ
church,but it's congregation,in part,moved here east of
Cincinnati-Clermont Co,sw Ohio.
