The 1900 Woodbury (Gloucester Co) Census for Wilson Jr FITZGERALD has
some details hard to read in the hand of the enumerator! I have some
bits that you may be able to help with on this one. I think the
individual words could stump, but the *pattern* will reveal something.
Let me know what you think...
Three street names are given on that page from the census - the scan.
They appear something like the words below, and doubtless refer to 3
nearby streets. The words may not be correct, but you may be able to
tell me what they really say by looking at the combination, and
visualizing actual streets in your mind...
Maribu, Mantua, or something like that Ave
Emory, Envanser, or something like that St
Morris (no abbreviation ave or st or anything listed)
The middle name is the name of the street Wilson is listed on.
The occupations:
Wilson Jr Laborer Piano something (mover or worker or something?)
He died of a heart attack on a public bus.
Wilson (son) Moulder iron (what was this? someone who casts iron?)
Elwood (son) Snapper Glass (Is this one who cut and snapped glass? Or
does it mean something else?)
Thanks,
Vince Summers
If you wish a small gif file of the words, let me know. I can attach
them, and they are of fairly large print size, so it is not due to
being a tiny image that makes it hard to read.
