Jan,

The list shown is "A List of Names of the Members of Different Companies of the Twelfth Regiment of the New Jersey Volunteers Mustered into Actual Service of the United States of America, for the term of three years, who have families residing in Gloucester County, entitled to State pay, pursuant to an act of the Legislature of New Jersey entitled , “An Act for the relief of such portion of the Militia of this State as may be called into service.” Approved May 11, 1861." Apparently the list was obtained from the Gloucester County Historical Society.

I don't think the list was intended to be the entire list. I cannot vouch for its completeness :(

For anyone having trouble accessing the web page URLs I provided earlier, try this..
http://www.woodburycement.com/home.htm
and click on the last link, WCP & the U.S. Civil War

I am not part of the group who created the monument, not do I have anything at all to do with the dedication ceremonies. If you have comments or suggestions regarding that.. you should probably contact the person who contacted me...
Fred Mossbrucker, Sec/ Treas., Camp #7

Hope this helps everyone :)

Interesting note. However, this list that is shown at this link can't
possibly be all the members of the 12th NJ. I know for a fact my Great
Uncle Elwood Loper was in Company H. I have both his military and pension
records. That fact notwithstanding, there just aren't enough men to make up
all of the 12th NJ. Is this list, to your knowledge, supposed to be
indicative of everyone who served in the 12th? Because if it is, it's way
off. There were 1,834 men who served in the 12th NJ.

> September 10, 2005 - DEDICATION OF CIVIL WAR MONUMENT
> At 10:00 AM on September 10th the "Camp Stockton" Monument will be
dedicated on South Evergreen Street in Woodbury, New Jersey, as the result
of a dedicated project by the Sons of Union Veterans. On the center "fence"
of stone will be a bronze plaque with the name of the camp and a capsule
history of the 12th New Jersey Regiment. There are gray pavers with the
names of the Civil War soldiers, friends of the 12th NJ Regiment and famous
Civil War personalities. There will also be a picture of the 12th's battle
flag (created using paver brick art). It is a stirring tribute to the men
of the "Old Buck & Ball" regiment. A list of the men who were part of the
12th New Jersey Regiment, can be found at
