Hi y'all:

I am also seeking NJ locations - an old letter states:
"Take 42 St Ferry Union Hill Car, and transfer to North Bergen. on
corner of Bergenline Ave and Plank Road"

there were several letters sent back and forth, all bearing the 846
Willow Ave North Bergen , NJ address.

here's what I know so far:
- Coming from Manhatten to 42nd St in North Bergen is Interstate 495
(tunnel? Bridge?) Could this have been a location for a ferry also?

- Union Hill was a transfer station for the trolley cars. I'm told that
its
overgrown foundation still exists. Is the location of Union Hill to the
north or
south of 42nd St?42nd St does intersect with Bergenline Avenue which
runs N/S. I can assume that the "Union Hill car" ran N/S.

- Heading south on Bergenline Ave, there is an intersection of the Plank
Road which continues east as 39th St. If I assume that "transfer to North
Bergen, on corner of Bergenline Ave and Plank Road" means that there
was a trolley called the "North Bergen" car - going east on 39th St brings
one to Park, a continuation of Willow Ave from the south. I'm told that the
highest numbered address currently on Willow in North Bergen is 834.
Could it be that in 1918, Willow and Park were one and the same?

Is there a historical society, or trolley museum, or transit librarian who
could confirm my assumptions?

Is there anyone who has access to the 1920 census data for North Bergen
and Willow Ave?

Thanks for the help!

Keith
