1) the 42nd Street probably refers to the NYC end of the Ferry Line the
western end of which was at the West Shore Ferry Terminal in Weehawken.
2) the Union Hill (later Union City) line did cross the Hackensack Plank
Road where it was presumably possible to get a car to North Bergen (via
Tonnelle Avenue) which would carry a Route sign of "Bergen Pike" or
"Bergen" but I cannot locate a Willow Ave. in that location from the maps at
my disposal.
3) alternately at the Plank Road you could take any one of several lines,
including one marked "Bergenline" all of which traversed various portions of
Willow Ave.. Hoboken on the way to the DL&W terminal
