Thanks! I hadn't really thought of checking these resources until I saw your
post. I knew my grandfather was a mason, and my grandmother was in OES
(Eastern Star)...a number of other extended family members seem to have
belonged to these groups, too. I suspected that the two organizations were
related, but had never looked into the specifics (the OES website provides
answers to FAQ's). For example, to join OES, you had to be related to someone
who was a mason. These are both fraternal organizations. In obits from the
early 1900's, I see many mentions of Lodge #'s etc. Were these groups
especially popular during that time period?
