Hello Roe

You may have already gotten enough answers to this question, but I thought
that one more couldn't hurt...

Vital Records from 1911 are available at the NJ State Archives in Trenton.
Unfortunately, they do not have the staff to search or copy these records.
You can search them and make copies of them of yourself, if you can go in
person. Otherwise, you can hire a private researcher to do the legwork for
you. Lists of researchers for hire can be found at several websites,
including the following:

http://www.apgen.org (Association of Professional Genealogists)
http://www.bcgcertification.org/associates/index.php (Board for
Certification of Genealogists)
http://www.gsnj.org (Genealogical Society of New Jersey)
http://www.rootsweb.com/~njgenweb/research/genealogist.html (NJ GenWeb
Researchers for Hire)
http://www.jerseyhistory.org/genealogy_researchers.html (New Jersey
Historical Society)

I am sure there are other sites listing NJ researchers. There is also a
Rootsweb New Jersey site for "Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness" where
people volunteer to do lookups and provide other services.

For the record: The NJ State Archives has the following vital records:

1848-1878 Births, Deaths, and Marriages -
They can search and provide certified copies or abstracts
of these records

1878-1923 Births -
They do not provide research services, only plain copies
can be made in person

1878-1940 Deaths and Marriages -
They do not provide research services, only plain copies
can be made in person

The 1911 death record will also be available by mail from the NJ Dept of
Health. You can find information on their requirements, restrictions, and
fees at their website: http://www.state.nj.us/health/vital/vital.htm

I hope that information might be of help to you - or to others on the list.

Regards
Joan
