Hi
I looked at the image on line. It looks to me like the "Robert Treat
Hotel". The problem is it's in Newark, NJ. It's still in operation
http://www.rthotel.com/index.html. The Hotel is located a few blocks
from Newark's Pennsylvania station. He could have commute by train from
Journal Square in JC. It wasn't unusual for railroads to own hotels. I
don't get the connection between station engineer and the hotel though.
Rose Street is located in the southern part of JC which adjoins Bayonne
and is still referred to as Greenville.

I have found my Patrick Reilly in the 1930 census. It lists his
occupation as station engineer. Under industry it says Robert_____Hotel,
at least that is what it looks like. Is there or was there a hotel by
that name Robert ? .
What would a station engineer do at a hotel? Also, it looks like they
lived on Rose street, is there such a street in Jersey City. It lists
the township as Greenville.
Thanks for your help
