Hi Tom,
The marriage certificates I have received from New Jersey have given me
lots of info. I have them from as early as 1883 to the present. In
addition to the groom's name and bride's maiden name, it has place of
marriage, date and time, current residence of each, age, occupation,
birthplace, father's name & mother's maiden name of each, witnesses &
their residence (sometimes a relative of bride or groom), and Pastor's
name.
I don't know what other states offer in information, but NJ certificates
have lots of info. I personally think they are well worth getting.
