I was able to find a brief article in the NY Times Historic database, as
follows:

"NORTH BERGEN, NJ - Nov. 3 (1939) Dominick Romano, 15 years old, of 44
Cottage Place here, was killed at 7:50 o'clock when struck by an automobile, the
driver of which did not stop the car, according to the police. Young Romano at
the time of the accident was on his way across the street with another boy
and four girls. "

That's the entire article, and no obit was in the Times. It does not state
the street where the accident occurred. You should be able to find an obit in
the Star Ledger or the Jersey Journal in that time frame. Hope this helps.

Looking for an obit for the above named boy. He was struck by a hit and
run driver on Tonnelle (sp?) Ave. sometime between 1939 and 1942
perhaps. We just found the family living at 668 Fifth Street, North
Bergen, Hudson County, NJ in the 1930 Census (thanks to Lucita13). Thank
you, robert leonard
