Does anyone have access to Jersey City Directories for the 1870's ? I am
looking for John M Taylor, who lists Jersey City as home in the 1880 census.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I have found many of these directories on filmstrips availible at the Mormon
church. I knew my great great grandfather had died between 1874 and 1884, so
I checked to see if he was listed each year { he stopped being listed in
1882, so I sent for a death notice search for 1881-82 and was sucessfull in
finding it! Go to their site :
FamilySearch Internet - Search
then click on FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY CATALOG, then place "Jersey City" into
the PLACE SEARCH, this will show you all the availible filmstrips for that
area. You can then visit your local Latter Day Saints history center and see if
they have it in stock, if not they will order a copy you can view for a month
at a very small fee. Hope that helps
