Subject: [NJMON] Tracing ancestor through deeds

My GGgandfater was Samuel Bennet (1804 - 1894) of Shrewsbury Twp (later
Neptune). His father's name on Samuel's death certificate is difficult to
read due to the flowery nature of the handwriting. Many have read it as Wm
while most see it as John. My cousins have found quit claim deeds for other
children of John's, an unrecorded will of John's, and a deed bearing John's
name. However, no one can find any document of John's which references
Samuel and there is no quit claim deed recorded for Samuel releasing his
claim on any of John's property. Can anyone help figure out any other ways
I might try to link Samuel to John? Trying to link Samuel with William has
been equally fruitless.
Thank you for any assistance you might be able to provide.
Joe Pawlick
