MORTUARY RECORD
David E. Smith
>From our Sparta Correspondent
David E. Smith, aged fifty-five years, died Tuesday of last week, from an
attack of grip and pneumonia. At the time of his death his wife and four
small children were ill from the disease. He was a son of the late William
P. and Phebe Snyder Smith, a prominent family of Lafayette and Sparta
townships. His early life was spent in this vicinity. Some years ago he
moved to the Berkshire Valley and was one of the most prosperous men of that
vicinity. He is survived by his wife and children and one younger brother,
Eugene Smith, of Sparta, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Thart, of Chester,
Morris county, and Mrs. Louise Commings, of Middletown, NY. He was a member
of the Dover lodge of I.O.L.M. and was buried by the members of that order
at the Berkshire Valley Cemetery last Saturday.
