Sussex Independent, Sussex, NJ, Friday, October 25, 1916
George Halstead, who died as a result of a fractured skull, sustained when
he slipped and fell in alighting from an automobile on Sunday, was at one
time a teacher at Florida, NY, but for several years past has been a clerk
in the hardware store of C.C. Crawford. Mr. Halstead was born April 20,
1856, and married Sarah Roe, of Florida, who survives him. The following
brothers also survive: Charles and William of Newark; Earl, of Philadelphia,
and Frank , of Sussex, together with one sister Alice, wife of William
Kortright, of Middletown. The funeral was held from his late home Thursday
afternoon. Interment at Monroe, NY.
