Charles W. Sprague
Mrs. Emma Sprague, of Sussex, received telegraphic notice Wednesday
afternoon of the death that morning of her son, Charles W. Spargue, at Fort
Riley, Kan. He had been ill about two weeks from pneumonia. He entered the
service by enlistment on December 11 last with the Sixteenth Cavalry, and
when taken sick was attending the Mounted Service School, Department of
Hiptology. Before entering the service he was a locomotive fireman on the
Erie Railroad. He is survived by his mother and two sisters, Ethel, wife of
John Westhoff, and Eva, wife of Gerald Williams, both of Franklin. The body
will be brought to Sussex for burial.
