Sussex Independent, Sussex, NJ, Friday, October 18, 1918

Pneumonia and meningitis caused the death last Saturday of John H. Totten,
at his home in Hamburg. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Totten and was
forty-three years old. His occupation was stationary firemen. He was a
member of the Baptist Church and of Walkill Council, Jr. O.U.A.M. Besides
his widow, who before marriage was Nettie Everman, he is survived by two
sons, G. Edward and James, and five daughters, Margaret, Alice, Cora,
Lizzie, and Elsie. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the
home , Rev. A.E. Davis, of the Hamburg Baptist Church officiating. Burial
was in North Church Cemetery.
