Irving J. Ryker

Funeral services for Irving J. Ryker of 74 Franklin St., Port Jervis, NY, a
former Newton resident, were conducted Friday morning at the Gray Funeral
Home, Port Jervis, by the Rev. John Junghans, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran
Church in Port Jervis. Interment followed in Rural Valley Cemetery,
Cuddebackville, NY. Mr. Ryker died Monday, July 28, at Robert Packer
Memorial Hospital, Sayre, Pa., after a long illness. He was 61. Born in
Johnsonburg, Mr. Ryker lived in the area for about 25 years and attended
Newton Schools before he moved to Port Jervis. He was a member of Drew
Methodist Church, Port Jervis, member and esquire of BPOE 645, director and
past president of the Middletown Men's Bowling League, member of the Port
Jervis Country Club, and member of the Port Jervis Fire Department,
Maghogamock Hook and Ladder and Co. 1. He also served on the Port Jervis
Little League. Surviving are his wife, the former Catherine L. Davis; a
son, Milton, of Anniston, Ala; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Conklin of Toms
River, Mrs. Richard Steele of Matamoras, Pa., and Mrs. R. William Gray of
Port Jervis; six brothers, Elwood, Woodrow, Richard, Russell, Robert, and
Edward Jr., all from the Newton area; two sisters, Mrs. Dolson Ayres of
Augusta and Mrs. Inez Gorman of Hicksville, NY, and 12 grandchildren.
