Lewis V. De Groat
Funeral services for Lewis V.De Groat of Montague, who died Monday at Newton
Memorial Hospital after a long illness, will be held today (Thursday) at 11
a.m. at the Wood Funeral Home, Main St., Branchville. The Rev. Michael
Crigger, pastor of the Frankford Plains United Methodist Church, will
officiate. Interment will follow in the Lakeville Cemetery, Lakeville, Pa.
Mr. De Groat was born in Blooming Grove, Pa., 65 years ago. He was a
laborer and lived in Montague the past 12 years. Survivors include his
wife, the former Mabel Howey; three sons, Lewis Jr. of Port Jervis, Herbert
of Union City, and Wayne of Montague; five daughters, Miss Helen of
Montague, Mrs Eldora Stoll of Layton, Mrs. Lois McKeown of Penn's Grove,
Mrs. Lillian Jennings of Sussex, and Mrs. Edith Nicholas of Union City; a
brother , Sheldon of Newton; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Sickler of Johnson City,
NY; 30 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
