I should have mentioned in my last message that the contents of the GSNJ
collection and Rutgers University's Special Collections and University
Archives will be discussed in one of the lectures at the GSNJ's 2000
Annual Meeting, which features a conference on New Jersey and New York
genealogy presented jointly by the Genealogical Society of New Jersey and
the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society.

The meeting, which is open to the general public, will take place on
Saturday, November 18, 2000 at 9:00 a.m. at the historic First
Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth, New Jersey (right here in Union
County!).

The meeting will feature eight lectures of particular interest to
researchers of family history in New Jersey and New York. Aside from
discussing general resources available in each state, various lectures
will address German, Dutch and Internet research. The lectures will be
presented by the following distinguished speakers: Ellen R. Callahan,
John Celardo, Leslie Corn, Richard Haberstroh, Roger D. Joslyn, Harry
Macy, Jr., Suzanne McVetty and Janet T. Riemer. (Jan's topic is
"Genealogical Resources at the Rutgers University Library". She used to
work there, so she is especially knowledgeable about the collection.)

There is more information on the lectures at the NYG&BS website
(www.nygbs.com), and I hope to have some posted on the GSNJ site
(www.rootsweb.com/~njgsnj) as well in the next few days.

The registration fee of $35 includes lunch. As the lectures are
scheduled in pairs, each attendee will be able to attend four lectures.
Reservations are required. To obtain a registration form, please send a
self-addressed, stamped envelope to Mrs. Suzanne Nurnberg, Program Chair,
133 Lincoln Way, Bridgeton, New Jersey 08302. Alternatively, Internet
credit card registration is possible at www.nygbs.org.

I hope some of you can make it there -- there are great topics and great
speakers!

Gary Maher, GSNJ Trustee
